Book: Old Hickory Forever

Volunteers from a multitude of villages have written a book under supervision of Jürgen Mingels from Cadier en Keer.
This book contains stories about the brave men from the Old Hickory-division, who risked their lives for our freedom in the cities and hills of South Limburg.

NAIL received the request to translate this book to English. NAIL felt very honored to receive this request and was happy to help.
Our President Marjo Thijssen and our member Hans Boekhorst took on this challenge.
The book contains 36 personal stories, of which 26 were written or told by Old Hickory veterans who helped with the liberation of South Limburg, 7 stories by civilians from South Limburg who personally experienced this period of occupation and liberation, and 3 stories by the second and third generation after the war.
There will be two versions of this book:
A special hard cover edition in Dutch for the 80-year anniversary of the liberation of South Limburg. This edition will be handed out to families, honorary guests, sponsors and those directly involved with this book during the liberation week in September.
The second edition will be a soft cover in English and Dutch and will be available from the third quarter of 2024.
